Salt lamps have been popping-up in catalogues and stores as one of the hottest holistic trends. The soft light they emit makes them a beautiful accent in any room, plus you get the added benefit that they naturally ionize the air. Every time one of our Himalayan Crystal Salt Lamps gets sent to family or friends, we always get a follow-up report on their use. The latest word is from a physical therapist who has been using our salt lamps during her sessions with patients. She says she finds the lamps very soothing. She likes the fact that the natural salt ionizes the air and she also feels the lamp helps balance the energy of the patient. Why not– the lamp’s particles are charged.

These lamps are also great additions anywhere you have a computer, TV or other electronics. They help clean-up electro-magnetic pollution.
One friend of mine didn’t seem too interested in the healing effects of the lamps. He just thought they looked great illuminating his restored Victorian era fireplace. Really, no matter where you put these lamps, they create a healthy, warm and cozy environment.
If you’re shopping for a salt lamp, start here: www.rapunzelgifts.com/slamp. Our lamps are sturdy with a solid wood base. They come with an easy change bulb assembly and a UL approved cord. Best of all, we stand behind them.
If you’ve bought one of our lamps, we’d like to hear from you. Does it help put the baby to sleep, clear up your allergies or just make the room look great? We want to know.

I first found out about Buddha Boards from my seven year old niece. She got one for her birthday and was just enthralled with it. So what is a Buddha Board you ask? It’s a blank palate based on the Zen concept of living in the moment. The board, made of rice paper comes with a brush. Simply wet the brush and draw your inspiration, your message, your thoughts. Your art will slowly evaporate and you are left with a clean slate.

Buddha Boards are not only great for kids, but for anyone who appreciates the concept of living in the present and enjoying each moment. If you’re shopping on our site www.RapunzelGifts.com you can combine the board with other Buddha and peaceful themed products, like statues, incense and candles for a unique gift basket.
You can find The Original Buddha Board at www.RapunzelGifts.com/bboard.

Here’s some words of advice from Dr. Joel Furhman, a nationally recognized nutritional expert and a board-certified family physician.
“My top ten ways to protect against breast cancer:
-
Do not drink alcohol.
-
Do not smoke.
-
Do not take estrogen.
-
Have babies and nurse them for two years each.
-
Avoid dietary carcinogens, which are predominantly found in fatty fish and dairy fat.
-
Eat a high-nutrient, vegetable-based diet as described in my book, Eat To Live. Green vegetables are the most powerful anti-breast cancer food. Take note that a vegetarian diet does not show protection against breast cancer as much as a diet rich in green vegetables, berries, and seeds. It is the phytochemical nutrient density and diversity of the diet that offers the most dramatic protection against cancer, not merely the avoidance of meat or fat.
-
Take a multivitamin to assure nutritional completeness and take at least 100mg of DHA daily.
-
Use one tablespoon of ground flax seeds daily.
-
Don’t grill or fry foods. Steaming vegetables or making vegetable soups should be the major extent of cooking.
-
Exercise at least three hours a week and maintain a lean body with little body fat.”

I received one of those chain emails today and though I get far too many to read and pass along, this one really struck a chord. It reminds of us to think positively and visualize what can be.
“Be sure to be conscious of your thoughts as much as you possibly can the entire day. Resist negative words even if you are using them in a positive way, i.e.: no war, no pollution and no hunger. Think positive thoughts.
World Peace; Imagine Palestinians and Israelis shaking hands and laughing, a prosperous and peaceful Iraq, a stable and civil Darfur.
Food for All; Imagine all the children in Africagoing to bed with full tummies and smiles on their faces.
Healthy Planet; clear air over Los Angeles, New York, China, everywhere; clean rivers, clean oceans, happy marine life.
Ok. You get the picture.”
Are you keeping your thoughts in check today?

Who can resist the clean, invigorating scent of peppermint wafting through the air? Peppermint is fresh and it stimulates the mind while soothing the tummy. I did a lot of research on peppermint, before adding our peppermint themed gift sets to RapunzelGifts.com. I learned that Peppermint was used by the early Egyptians, Greeks and Romans for its healing and medicinal properties. I knew that Peppermint is commonly used for digestion, including soothing the stomach after a big meal, but I didn’t know it also can help with dizziness and may prevent sea sickness (just in case you’re about to take that cruise!) Peppermint actually raises our internal heat to induce perspiration, thus cooling the body– good for those hot summer days. It also works great for relieving colds and chest congestion. I find peppermint to be very uplifting and I even mix peppermint oil and lavender oil together with salts for a luxurious bath.
Here’s just a few of the many, many healing properties of peppermint:
-Clears the mind
-Helps you focus
-Relieves mental strain, fatigue and stress
Relieves:
Bronchitis, sinusitis, asthma, coughs, sore throats, nausea, diarrhea, neuralgia, indigestion, colic, stomach cramp, dyspepsia, flatulence and travel sickness, oily skin, acne, dermatitis, toothache, headache, muscle fatigue, bad breath, acts as an insect repellent.
If you’re looking for a peppermint-themed gift to give, checkout our Cat Energy Box, www.rapunzelgifts.com/cat.html filled with handmade peppermint soap, cucumber-mint bath salts and two rosemary-peppermint candles. There’s also a Breathe Relaxation Box www.rapunzelgifts.com/breathe.htmlfilled with peppermint candles, bath salts, green tea incense and a traveling Buddha.

When I adopted my Bichon Frise from the ASPCA four years ago he was a troubled little fellow. His owner had lost her home, so they had been living on the streets of Manhattan. My dog was a nervous wreck and a compulsive alarm barker. He even barked at the garbage bags out on the street at night. It was difficult living with him in the house and walking him outside in public.
A friend referred me to a dog intuitive that came to my house and worked with my dog for about an hour. I was disappointed that she really couldn’t give me any information about his past or his issues, but she did work clearing the house, the yard and some negative energy coming from a neighbor’s house. After she was done, my little guy hadn’t changed much. That’s when I tried Flower Oils. These seemed to calm him down, but you have to be consistent with putting them on your dog’s paws or in the drinking water. The very best technique I’ve tried is changing my energy around the dog. I really try to give a sense of calmness and security and this seems to have helped the most. I will consistently give him some nice dog massages on his back and belly. I put my fingers in the shape of a prong, and I massage in small circles down his back. My dog rolls around on the floor snorting in glee. I reassure my dog that he is loved and that I will never leave him and he will never lose his home. Now, four years later this is a different dog.
We just introduced Healing Pet Stones to our site, RapunzelGifts.com. These stones attach to your dog’s collar and give the same healing properties to dogs that humans get from using them. I’ve added these to the site because I really believe in the power of working with crystals and stones. I have a slew of them I keep on my desk and some I carry in my purse, so they are always at hand. These doggie aids come to us from Sonia Alexandra , an expert in working with the healing stones. Any time you work with stones for yourself or any pet, it’s recommended that you clear them first. Here’s some advice from Sonia:
To cleanse and clear the stones of negative energy wash the stones with hot water and anti-bacterial soap during your final rinse sprinkle a recommended that once a month you recharge the stones by leaving them in sunlight moonlight, out during a thunderstorm or smudging them with incense.
